Aircraft used Zenith CH-701 is a microlight aircraft.
First public appearance of this type was in the year 1986. This aircraft was developed as
"off-airport" aircraft. This means that it can operate from short rough fields.
This plane can be assembled in a garage from building kit by non skilled personnel. This
aircraft has fixed leading-edge slots for improved short take-off and landing
characteristic (STOL), flap-eilerons trough entire wing span and all-moving pitch control
surface. It is entirely made out of light metal.
This aircraft will enable pilot to land on less-than-perfect terrain, but cost for this
advantage will be reduced travelling speed.
Aircraft used by Matevz for around the world flight was produced in
Czech Republic by Czech Aircraft Works and it has some modifications made on. There is
slight increase in cabin space, wing reinforcements were carried out to accommodate more
fuel ( instead 70 liters there are now 200 liter fuel tanks (53 USGal.)) and there is
modified instrument panel with more space for additional instruments.
