Finally
we lived to see the day when cold front moved
away. Clear skies and just a bit of north
winds. After I had cup of coffee with pilots
from Slovenj Gradec the crucial moment begins.
The big adventure starts with classical take
off. In the air I notice that this northern
wind is quite strong. I have rough and bumpy
flight to Vienna. The head winds decrease
my ground speed to sometimes only 40 kts.
Over Neusiedler see I notice white foam of
waves and quite few colorful surf sails. Surfers
had the day of their lives. The sky is cloudy
but cloud base is high enough for comfortable
flight.
Airfield Turany close to Brno is again without
any traffic. It reminds me of Maribor airfield
in Slovenia. Instantly when I cross border
between Austria and Czech Republic I get full
air traffic control clearance for landing
at Brno airfield. On landing I have 15 kts
of side wind but it doesnt causes any
problems. I think that aircraft can safely
take side wind twice as strong as this one.
Today I spent in the air instead of planned
two and a half hours good four hours.
After short custom stop in Brno I fly to Borsice,
old agricultural airfield, where Czech Aircraft
Works are stationed. After regular service
on the aircraft short 20 minute jump to Kromeriz,
where my friend Marek Vala has his small hangar,
and this was it for today. Marek makes room
in his hangar for Blue Lightning and me. We
are already cutting costs. This could easily
became the cheapest around-the-world trip.
Tomorrow morning I plan to get together with
Aleksander Filiptchenko, pilot and aircraft
dealer from Russia, who happens to be at the
same time in Czech Republic. We have to talk
about support regarding my flights in Russia
and sign the contract regarding it. So tomorrow
we will know how short on funds we are.
