A letter from Steven Genn, Canadian pilot
"I am quite alarmed about this case. It is starting to look like Transport Canada acted beyond it´s authority and has left a trail of chaos in it´s wake. Matevz had to scrap his nearly complete trip around the world, causing him an enormous financial loss for him, and causing a national embarrassment for Canada in the aviation community.
Not only that but by implementing CAR 601.39 (the High Seas) in this case the Canadian Government has compromised Canadian sovereignty over Davis Strait which many countries consider to be an international body of water, and Canada up until now has maintained it is sovereign territory. The Transport Canada judgment against Matevz is historical in this regard.
In any case, if TC has exceeded it´s jurisdiction it should be held accountable so that it does not do it again."

Slovenian embassy in Moscow acted as a host of the reception held for all main actors in the trans Russian micro light flight. Ambassador Mr. Demsar invited commander of military aviation of Russian federation general Mikhailov, his deputy general Grishin, hero of Russia colonel Talboev, president of Russian flyers association colonel Zabalodsky, secretary general of department for international cooperation of Russian CAA Mr. Pavluk, civilian flights coordinator of Russian CAA Gennady Velikotsk, navigator Andrei Dubrovin, consul Mr. Gole, Slovenian military attaché and the pilot Matevz Lenarcic to join him for official dinner at the embassy. This social meeting was held in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Russian party emphasized that there are no additional requests on their behalf regardless of the fact that the flight out of Russian airspace was carried out without preliminary permit, which was unobtainable due to expired visa of the pilot. General Grishin stated that Russian airspace is at least regarding military open for our next flight.
Matevz and his Russian navigator and friend Andrei Dubrovin talked about glory days. Andrei told Matevz that he had some troubles with his beloved wife Galia. She forbade Andrei to even sit in the aircraft when she saw The Blue Lightning on the national TV. But now she might even allow Andrei to fly in one of those »things« if Andrei and Matevz go together on their next flight.
